How to use this calculator
Enter damage for a noncritical hit, a chance from 0% to 100%, and the total critical multiplier. A 2× multiplier means double damage.
The math behind it
Critical damage = base damage × multiplier Expected damage = base damage × (1 − probability) + critical damage × probability
A worked example
At 100 base damage, 25% critical chance and 2× critical damage, the average is 125 damage per hit. A critical hit deals 200.
Assumptions & precision
One normal-or-critical outcome per hit, with a fixed chance. No game-specific mitigation, stacked critical tiers or guaranteed-crit meters. Multiplier must be at least 1. Unrounded intermediate values; results display up to 6 decimal places. Magnitudes above 10¹⁵ are rejected.
A common question
Is a 50% critical chance guaranteed to crit every other hit?
No. Independent hits can produce streaks. The expected average describes many hits, not an alternating sequence.
